The MVI56E Modbus TCP/IP Client/Server Communication Module allows RockwellAutomation ControlLogix processors to interface easily with other Modbus compatibledevices.Compatible devices include Modicon Programmable Automation Controllers (PACs), aswell as a wide variety of instruments and devices. A 5000-word register space in themodule exchanges data between the processor and the Modbus TCP/IP network. The MVI56E-MNET and MVI56E-MNETXT are functionally the same. The MVI56EMNET is designed for standard process applications. The MVI56E-MNETXT is designedfor the Logix-XT™ control platform, allowing it to operate in extreme environments andat higher operating temperatures. It has a conformal coating to protect it from harsh orcaustic conditions.

The MVI56E-MNETXT ProSoft Network Interface Module may still be available for purchase and support from Amikon Limited beyond End-Of-Life (EOL) by the manufacturer (OEM).

XT series for Extreme Environments: The MVI56E-MNETXT is part of the new XTseries, designed to work at extreme temperatures and in harsh or causticenvironments. XT series modules operate over a wider temperature range than thestandard MVI56E series. The XT series also comes with conformal coating to protectmodule components from corrosive environmental elements.
The MVI56E-MNET module communicates directly over the ControlLogix backplane.Data is paged between the module and the ControlLogix processor across thebackplane using the module's input and output images. The update frequency of theimages is determined by the scheduled scan rate defined by the user for the module andthe communication load on the module. Typical update times range from 1 to 10milliseconds.This bi-directional transfer of data is accomplished by the module putting data in theinput image to send to the processor. Data in the input image is placed in theprocessor's controller tags by ladder logic. The input image is set to 250 words.Processor logic inserts data to the output image to be transferred to the module. Themodule's firmware program extracts the data and places it in the module's internaldatabase. The output image is set to 248 words.
  • Flow Meters & Level Sensors:Integrates liquid/gas measurements into control logic
