The IS220PTCCH1A includes an internally placed BPPx processor board and a dedicated acquisition board for thermocouple input functionality. The processor of the IS220PTCCH1A operates at 300 MHz (AMD-K6) with flash memory for firmware storage. The IS220PTCCH1A performs comprehensive power-up self-tests including flash memory verification, RAM testing, processor board hardware diagnostics, and Ethernet port verification.

For network communication, the IS220PTCCH1A features dual independent RJ45 Ethernet ports for connection to the I/O Ethernet network. The IS220PTCCH1A also includes an infrared serial communication port for local diagnostics and status indication through multiple LED indicators.
