Redundancy is a core architectural feature of the 3500 power system. The rack provides two half-height slots on the left side specifically for power supplies. When a single 115M7750-01 PIM and its associated power supply are installed, they power the entire rack. When two power supplies are installed (any combination of AC and DC), the supply in the lower slot acts as the primary and the supply in the upper slot acts as the backup. This automatic redundancy requires no user configuration—if the primary supply fails or is removed, the backup assumes full load instantly.
